Michelle has worked individually with many neurodivergent adolescents and young adults. A common theme she has observed among her clients is their desire to connect with other neurodivergent peers; to learn from, to share stories with, and as a result, to develop a deeper sense of self.
This has led Michelle to facilitate a safe space for young people to connect with other neurodivergent peers. Michelle typically provides the initial scaffolding to start each session, then steps back as the discussion naturally evolves amongst group participants.
Groups typically run for 6-8 sessions. Some groups will attract a Medicare rebate.
Assessment can illuminate frameworks that support individuals to gain more insight into their distinctive capabilities, preferences, strengths, and differences. Michelle believes that the assessment process and its outcome lead to a deeper level of self-understanding.
She currently offers assessment for:
Autism
ADHD
Cognitive ability
What's typically involved? Questionnaires, a comprehensive session with parents, brief interview with an educator, a one-on-one session with the young person, feedback sessions, and a comprehensive report. Referral question and the age of the person undergoing assessment will inform what specific elements are involved.
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, if you wish to access Medicare rebates for sessions under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative, you will require a referral from your GP. This is known as a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), and entitles you to 10 Medicare subsidised sessions per calender year.
Alternatively, if you have Private Health Insurance you may be entitled to a rebate through your provider.
Michelle also sees clients with NDIS funding who are self-managed.

Payment is required in full on the day of the service. Credit card details are requested as part of client paperwork, and are stored securely with Stripe.
